Workin' Out at the gym to fit my underwear~

Pork and Beans, Lovegame, and Knights of Cydonia were my jams while working out today!

First up, here's this:A happy thing I learned at the gym today: The numbers on the weight machines I use for arms had been pretty badly eroded. They fixed them recently, and imagine my happiness when I learned my weight numbers I've been recording were kilograms, not pounds. So yeah, I've been lifting 19 pounds for shoulders, rowing 88lbs, doing 40lb bicep curls, etc.

I...kind of wish I never learned this, because then it'd be like Goku training with the turtle shell? But it did make me feel somewhat more awesome.

I guess I could go back and edit all my old entries, but..I'm not gonna.

Today I did:
-10 minute treadmill warm up
-10 reps, 2 sets...uhh...19lbs shoulder presses
-10 reps, 2 sets, 88lbs, seated row
-10 reps, 2 sets, 40 lbs, bicep curls
-stretching. Had to cut the workout short today because of the childcare closing at 2:30 thing.

So tired now...it's been a long day x_x

Free Range Suffering ;A;

Still love the free movement machines. Still surprised at how awesomely sore they make me.

-5 minute treadmill warm-up
-3minute rowing machine warm-up
-2 sets, 10 reps, 16 lbs, standing tricep pulldown
-2 sets, 10 reps, 20 lbs, standing bicep curls
-2 sets (barely), 10 reps, 9 lbs, seated shoulder presses. UGH
-45 total seconds of wall sits because I was too tired to focus on legs today XD

2nd month at the gym, and down 17 pounds!!!

That's right!! I weighed myself just on a whim today, and was utterly shocked to see that I've lost 17 pounds since the second week in May (the last time I weighed myself). I know that this rate won't (and shouldn't) continue, but OMG. OMG. I was especially shocked because I totally ate a ton of carbs this weekend...but I was just so hungry every few hours. Still working on the diet, but hey, I've clearly made some good changes!

I think the biggest ones have been cutting out wine almost completely (although I still drink cocktails) and greatly reducing the fried stuff I eat. Still need to add more veggies and protein, but I'm getting there!

At the gym today, I worked in the 24 hour section for the first time &loved it. They have a huge selection of the free motion machines, which is really good for someone like me who needs help maintaining form. I got a way better workout, too...never going back to the old machines, and someday, I'll do free weights :3.

-5 minute treadmill warm-up
-3 sets, 10 reps (+1 at the end for fun), 25 lbs, standing bicep curls
-2 sets, 10 reps, 15 painful lbs, tricep pulldown exercises. Oy vay, the weak flabby triceps.
-40 total seconds of doing the thing where you pretend you're sitting in a chair with your back to the wall. Working up to squats, little by little.
-tons of stretching

So tired now (was tired when I went to the gym, too, which can't help) but it was worth it. Still elated, also.

ETA:
17 pounds is certainly nothing to sneeze at. I'm very proud of myself; I've never stuck with fitness long enough to see any real results before. It gave me an unbelievably strong boost to keep going and do more.

However, one must remember that I'm moderately overweight. I've managed to stay just shy of the obese category thanks(?) to my naturally larger build and overall generally decent health.

For most of my friends, 17 pounds would be all or most of what they want to lose. For me, it's just a very solid beginning. I'm not obsessing over the scale because I'm focusing on strength, fitness, and capability, but I absolutely need to lose weight to achieve those things.

I also know that 17 pounds must seem like an awful lot, but consider that I know that rate isn't common or sustainable...unless you're overweight to begin with. It's very common to drop a bunch of weight relatively quickly just by sticking to dietary and activity changes when you are heavy.

So yes, I lost a considerable amount of weight in a fairly small amount of time.Rest assured that I would never do anything drastic or unhealthy; I'm way too lazy for that. Me cutting out wine is probably pretty equivalent to your average person cutting out soda; the reduced sugar intake is quite significant, and it provided a quick initial loss.

So yes, if my recent weight loss seems unlikely or unhealthy to you, consider that I have a very long way to go, and don't expect to be losing at this rate for much longer.

So tired today, but it was another day where I almost didn't go, but then did!

-10 minute treadmill warm up
-7 minutes on rowing machine
-5 HORRIFYING minutes on the stair climber. Oh my god. New favorite exercise.

And that was it today. I had to cut it short because of the daycare closing at 2:30, but I made that time worth it. So glad I showered there, I haven't been that sweaty in a really long time.

Pretty good workout today! I went way earlier than usual so it was pretty busy, but not too bad.

-10 minute treadmill warm-up
-2 sets, 15 reps, 115 lbs, leg presses
-2sets, 10 reps, 70 lbs leg extensions (these KILLED me today for some reason)
-7 minutes on rowing machine
-2 sets, 10 reps, 85 lbs lat pulldowns
-2 sets,10 reps, 25 lbs tricep overhead pull thing, oh my god this was so embarrassingly difficult. I was really wobbling by the end.

Another nice thing about getting in earlier was getting to see some of the classes in action. I saw Aqua Fit on the way to the locker room, and when I was leaving there was a class called Body Combat that actually looked like something I'd love. It was a very full class but all fitness levels, and lots of punching and kicking to fast techno, haha. I'll keep that one in mind.

Yeah...didn't go to the gym for two weeks. Schade, schade. I went today, and damn, did my absence take its toll. I had to cut it a bit short due to Momo having a doctor's appointment, but I don't think I could've done much more anyhow.

-5 minute treadmill warm up
-1 set, 10 reps, 70 lbs leg extensions
1 set, 10 reps, 70 lbs leg curls
-10 minutes on rowing machine
-2 sets, 10 reps, 85 lbs lat pulldowns

Boo! Hopefully will do more tomorrow.

Went back to the gym for the first time in a week. The good news is, I can do more reps with more weight and longer warm-up! The bad news is my legs are quivering piles of sadness and I had to rush the workout today a little bit so I could do it and also shower before the daycare closed. More good news is, I'm going for a walk with my BFF and kiddo tonight, so yay.

I think I need to take a physical note pad with me from now on. I'm starting to try new stuff and it's harder to track. Today I'm gonna post in order since I did the rowing machine in the middle.

-6minute treadmill warm-up
-2sets 10 reps 1st at 55 2nd at70 lbs leg extensions
-2 sets 10 reps 1st at 70, 2nd at 85 lbs seated leg curls
-2sets 10 reps 80lbs leg presses
-5 minutes on the rowing machine
-1 set, 10reps, 130 lbs, leg presses!!
-1 set, 10 reps100 lbs, leg curls!
-1 set, 10 reps,80 lbs leg extensions!!

I have soreness in places I didn't even know muscles existed! Success :D
